Single Tooth Implant – St. Peters, MO
Rebuild Your Tooth from the Root Up
Your teeth are important for more than just a confident smile. They also are crucial to your oral health and functions. Losing even a single tooth can cause devastating consequences. Thankfully, you can preserve your smile and restore your confidence with a dental implant. If you’re missing a tooth, you can enjoy the next best thing to what nature gave you using a solution that’s proven to last for a lifetime.
Dental Implant Placement
A dental implant is unlike any other treatment because it replicates the entire tooth structure, even the root. This requires a multi-step treatment process that will take several months to complete. Don’t worry, it’s time well-spent because it can last for a lifetime with the right aftercare.
After you’ve healed from any previous treatments, you’re scheduled for your implant placement surgery. Sedation or anesthesia will ensure your comfort as your gum tissue is opened to gain access to your jawbone. A small home is drilled into the bone in a predetermined area using computer-guided software. After the titanium implant is in place, your gum tissue is stitched closed.
With the post acting as a root, your jaw will be stimulated to promote new bone growth. Over the next several weeks, your jaw will fuse to the post through a process called osseointegration. This allows the post to remain in place forever with the right care. Once you’re fully healed, you’ll have a stable foundation for your new smile, and you can move on to the next step in your plan.
Abutment & Dental Crown Design
You’ll need a minor procedure to attach an abutment to your implant post. The special fixture is a connector piece between the post and the crown. Your gum tissue is opened to expose the head of your dental implant, and the abutment is attached. Over the next couple of weeks, your gum tissue will heal around it to create a natural-looking gum line.
We’ll also take impressions and scans of your mouth to begin crafting your custom-restoration. It’s made of all-ceramic material to meet your exact specifications. This can take a couple of weeks, so we may attach a temporary one in the meantime.
Placement of Dental Crown
After your gum tissue has healed and your final restoration is ready, you’ll return for the final step in your treatment. The all-ceramic crown is connected to the abutment to fill the empty space. You can smile confidently knowing it looks like a real tooth. You also won’t notice any difference when eating because it will closely feel natural. In fact, you’ll regain as much as 70% of your biting force.
